Conversation, food.

TASC held an event at Entrée in Bergen where the focus was on conversation. Each guest was invited to propose a topic of conversation and we served a course to accompany and prompt each topic.

For our main course we wanted to talk about national identity and how this is tied to national dishes. We wanted to highlight the way that food has been used to forge a national identity and create solidarity and something shared between people.

One of the biggest selling dishes in Norway is Pizza Grandiosa, a meat and pepper pizza that some people even have for their Christmas Day lunch! We made this pizza from scratch using ingredients import- ed from outside of Norway, as much of the food sold in Norway is imported.

As well as looking at the sentimentalisation of food, we were also interested in talking about the use of sustainable and locally sourced food.
