Hvileåret
2022- ongoing.
Research project, workshops, text, sound.

Hvileåret is a long-term participatory project exploring rest as a political and generative act, taking inspiration from how rest=growth in natural cycles, such as hibernation and abscission, and traditional farming methods, such as fallow fields and crop rotation. Since 2022, it has taken shape through workshops, installations, residencies and writing, engaging those working with care, activism and marginalised experience.

Audre Lorde said ““Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self- preservation, and that is an act of political warfare”. The project turns to methods of farming that are in tune with the natural cycles of growth where rest is factored in as an active tool in the cycle of growth.

Through workshops, discusion and collective research we look at ways of organising found in
the natural world, to help us reframe, imagine and re-create rest as an active state of growth.
